Troubleshooting
v1.0
Symptom: Clicking "Connect Walmart" shows an error like "Invalid Walmart credentials."
Walmart credentials won't connect
Checks:
• Confirm you are using your own personal API key pair (identified by a lock icon in the Walmart Developer Portal), not a solution provider key
• Make sure you copied the Client ID and Client Secret as separate values — they are different fields, not one combined key
• Check that your Walmart account is in good standing and your Seller Center access is active
• Try generating a new Client Secret in the Walmart Developer Portal and re-entering it
API scope missing after connecting
Symptom: Walmart connects but a banner shows "Missing Walmart API permissions" for MCS Orders or another scope.
Fix: The banner includes specific instructions for each missing scope. Generally:
• For MCS Orders: go to Walmart Seller Center → Multichannel Solutions and confirm MCS is activated for your account, then go to Developer Portal → API Key Management → enable Multichannel Solutions for your key
• For Fulfillment Inventory: confirm WFS enrollment in Walmart Seller Center → Fulfillment
• Click Re-verify Permissions after making changes in the Walmart portal
Orders stuck in EXCEPTION status
Symptom: An order shows EXCEPTION in the Orders page with an error message about unmapped SKUs.
Fix:
• Read the error message — it lists the specific Shopify variant IDs that are unmapped
• Go to Catalog → Unmatched tab and map those variants to their Walmart SKUs
• Go back to Orders, find the EXCEPTION order, and click Retry
• The order will be re-queued for processing
New orders are not appearing in the app
Symptom: Customers are placing orders on your Shopify store but they don't show up in the Orders page.
Checks:
• Confirm MCS is enabled in Settings → Settings tab
• Confirm your Walmart account is connected
• Check Dashboard → Recent Activity for any ORDERINITIATED or ORDEREXCEPTION events
• Confirm the products in the order have SKU mappings (Catalog → Unmatched should show zero items)
• Verify your channel configs are set up correctly — if no channel matches the order's source, the global fallback is used, but a Global MCS Sales Channel ID must be set
Orders are stuck in RECEIVED or PROCESSING
Symptom: An order was submitted to Walmart but hasn't moved to SHIPPED.
What to know: Status updates come from Walmart's API. The app polls for updates automatically. If an order appears stuck:
• Click Sync on the order row in the Orders page to fetch the latest status from Walmart immediately
• Log in to Walmart Seller Center to check if the order shows a different status there
• If Walmart Seller Center also shows the order as stuck, contact Walmart seller support
Tracking numbers not appearing in Shopify
Symptom: An order is SHIPPED in the app but the Shopify order shows no tracking number.
Fix: The app writes tracking back to Shopify automatically when it detects the SHIPPED status from Walmart. If it is missing:
• Click Sync on the order in the Orders page
• Check Dashboard → Recent Activity for any tracking sync errors
• If the sync succeeds but Shopify still shows no tracking, check whether the Shopify fulfillment was created by the app (it should appear under the order's fulfillment section)
Inventory is not updating in Shopify
Symptom: Your WFS inventory levels in Shopify are not matching what Walmart shows.
Fix:
• Confirm inventory sync is enabled: Settings → Inventory & Catalog → Sync WFS inventory to Shopify toggle is on
• Go to the Inventory page and click Sync Now to force an immediate refresh
• If quantities still don't match, check that the products showing incorrect inventory have SKU mappings in the app
Order sync limit reached
Symptom: Orders showing LIMIT_REACHED in the Orders page; yellow warning banner visible.
Fix: Upgrade to the Advanced plan on the Billing page. After upgrading, LIMIT_REACHED orders are retried automatically within the next sync cycle.
