MCS (Walmart Multichannel Solutions)
v1.0
Walmart Multichannel Solutions (MCS) lets you fulfill orders from any sales channel — Shopify, TikTok Shop, Amazon, your own website — using inventory stored at Walmart's fulfillment centers. You keep one pool of inventory at Walmart and use it for all your channels.
MCS was launched by Walmart in September 2024. It is the primary fulfillment direction the app is built around.
How MCS works with this app
• A customer places an order on your Shopify store (or another connected channel)
• The app detects the order and matches it to a Sales Channel Config to determine the MCS Channel ID
• The app waits for Shopify to submit a fulfillment request (or, if auto-processing is enabled, proceeds immediately when payment is confirmed)
• The order is submitted to Walmart MCS with the customer's shipping address, items, and quantities
• Walmart picks, packs, and ships from your WFS inventory
• The app polls Walmart for shipping updates and writes the tracking number back to the Shopify order
MCS order lifecycle
• Status: What it means
• INITIATED: Order received by the app, awaiting fulfillment request
• RECEIVED: Submitted to Walmart MCS — Walmart has accepted it
• PROCESSING: Walmart is picking and packing
• SHIPPED: Order has left Walmart's warehouse, tracking available
• DELIVERED: Confirmed delivered
• CANCELLED: Order was cancelled before or after Walmart received it
• EXCEPTION: An error occurred — see Troubleshooting
Requirements for MCS to work
All of the following must be true for an order to be submitted to Walmart MCS successfully:
• Walmart account is connected with MCS API scope enabled
• MCS is enabled in Settings → Settings tab
• Every product in the order has a SKU mapping to a Walmart item
• The Walmart item is enrolled in WFS (visible in Catalog → Walmart Products → WFS Enabled column)
• A Channel ID is available — either from a matching channel config or from the global fallback
• Inventory is available at the Walmart Fulfillment Services Shopify location (requires inventory sync to be enabled)
Returns
When a customer returns an MCS order, the return is initiated at Walmart and the app syncs the return record back to Shopify. Auto-processing of returns can be toggled in Settings → Settings tab → Auto-process MCS returns.
What about Walmart.com orders?
MCS does not cover Walmart.com orders — those are handled by the WFS mode of the app. WFS and MCS can both be active at the same time.
